Zoë’s diverse experience includes choreography for film and stage, collaborative devising, physical theatre, aerial and acrobatic skills, horsemanship skills, foreign languages, nutritional studies and music.
Zoë’s film work includes music videos for BBC Comedy Online – Biebershop Quartet (directed by MJ Delaney of Newport Fame), ZFILMS – Badger Badger, Tom Rosenthal, Spencer Maybe, Goodshoes and DJ Damien Lazarus. Further, she works with the students of London College of Communication and London College of Fashion creating short movement based films. The finished films can be viewed on the Screen, Movement Direction page, with the latest one in post-production.
Recent Movement Direction projects have been mostly in devised theatre and new writing. The most recent being Mad Women in Attics by Barefaced Theatre Company at New Wimbledon Theatre, National Theatre New Connections at The National Theatre, Hampstead Theatre and The Churchill, Ambassador Theatre Group’s Young Company’s new piece, directed by Jonathan Ellicott of Tangled Feet; Handheld Art’s Paper Tom, performed at Ipswich’s Fringe Festival, Pulse and The Stratford Circus; The Ducks, one of the three winning plays in the Papa Tango New Works Festival at Tristan Bates Theatre and developing new work at Wilton’s Music Hall, with Tyne Rafaeli and Samantha Bloom based on the epic poem The Wild Party by Joseph Moncure March. Previously, she movement directed Phaedre for Offstage Theatre at Craigmillar Castle as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and worked as assistant Movement Director to Struan Leslie on Overspill by Ali Taylor at the Soho Theatre.
Her teaching includes Animal Studies at the Brian Timoney Actor’s Studio, Movement and Physical Theatre at Arts Ed in Chiswick. As part of her MA placements, using her background in circus skills she directed the end of year performance for the Youth Programme at The Circus Space.
Zoë has trained with the Moscow State Circus (Web), The Circus Space (Flying Trapeze and Silks), Bread and Puppet (USA) and North American Cultural Laboratory. Intensive physical training continued with The Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richard’s Workcentre in Ponterdera, Italy, Number 11 Theatre (Toronto) and later with One Yellow Rabbit (Calgary).
Other relevant movement training include a strong practice in Iyengar and Bikram Yoga, English and Western horseback riding, Ballet with the Royal Ballet, 5 Rhythms, Sufi Whirling Dervish practice, Jazz dance, Chen style Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Swing dance, Hip-hop, Belly Dance and Thai Boxing. More recently she has been introduced to the systems of Laban, Suzuki, Feldenkreis, Lecoq and Butoh. Zoë has completed her Stage Combat level one from British Academy Dramatic Combat with dagger and sword work.
At Central Zoë has worked with Fran Barbe, Marie-Gabrielle Rotie, Lorna Marshal, Struan Leslie, Sue Lefton and Leah Hausman.
She continues her course work towards a Registered Holistic Natural Nutritionalist Diploma from Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
